The last time we caught up with former UK ‘X Factor’ star Matt Cardle, he’d just whipped the lid off the video for his Melanie C duet ‘Loving You’. That was in late July.
Since then, Matt’s announced his forthcoming solo album ‘Porcelain’ and has seemingly found a bigger budget for his single cover images for his new tune ‘When You Were My Girl’.
We’re actually liking this plenty. From the funky Rodgers-esque guitar licks in the verses (and Matt’s sweet sugary vocals) to the hand claps and synth stabs in the choruses, the track bubbles along with a familiarity and friendliness that’s bound to find it a home across UK radio. This, of course, might lead to chart success. Time, of course, will tell.
