Paris Hilton. Love her or loathe her (we’re admittedly firmly in camp ‘loathe’ to be honest), she’s certainly incredibly adept at staying in the headlines, be it for all the right or wrong reasons.
At the height of her ‘fame’ back in the mid 2000s, Paris achieved a relatively successful chart hit with her debut single ‘Stars Are Blind’, which peaked inside the top ten here in Australia and in a number of other territories across the globe. ‘Nothing In This World’ followed and her cover of ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy’ was… well, a mistake really.
But given she’s no longer commanding the same global following as she once was, she’s decided that it’s time once again for her to dip her perfectly pedicured tootsies into the champagne-filled pop pool.
Look, we’re sure it’s going to find its audience somewhere, but when she’s playing up on the stereotype and the track contains lyrics like “And I might be a bit tipsy, but that’s okay ’cause you’re with me”, it’s every bit as banal as we’d expected. Even the cover is derivative… with its ‘Great Gatsby’-esque font and Little Boots wannabe imagery.
