It’s less than four days since ‘X Factor’ winner Dami Im has basked in the afterglow of winning this year’s competition and already the three runners ups’ singles have been serviced to media, meaning that your all-important vote really counts for nothing in the end.
That said, each of the finalists’ singles will be paraded as part of the ‘X Factor’ tour, which kicks off later this month at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.
First up here is ‘Different Kind Of Love’ – what would have been Third D3gree’s winner’s single. Given their fourth placed finish, it’s the only one of the finalists singles that remains unheard… ’til now and is seemingly the most international of the three, produced and mixed by LA-based Captain Cuts, with vocals recorded in Sydney.
Performed on the show as part of Sunday’s Grand Final, Taylor’s single ‘Borrow My Heart’ stylistically suits him right down to the ground. An acoustic pop number, the single was co-penned by former ‘Australian Idol’ alumni Hayley Warner, along with Alex Hope and Louis Schoorl. Taylor was a consistent fan favourite, regularly occupying the upper echelons of the iTunes chart.
It’ll be interesting to see how Jai’s career plays out in the post-‘X Factor’ period. Yes, he consistently received plenty of the public vote, but his singles never quite connected on the sales charts. Like Taylor’s single, ‘Your Eyes’ was penned by Hayley Warner, Alex Hope and Louis Schoorl.
All three singles are available digitally from today.
