Correct us if we’re wrong, but didn’t UK popstress Lily Allen announce she was changing her name and leaving the music business altogether a couple of years back? Like a moth to a flame, however…
Lily dipped her toes back into the pop pond recently via her feature on ‘True Love’ on P!nk’s ‘The Truth About Love’ set and even pops up on Robbie Williams’ forthcoming album ‘Swings Both Ways’ and its accompanying live DVD.
But now she’s revealed an official video for her first new headline single since 2009 and it’s a real statement on the state of the music industry in particular, its treatment of women in music videos and what most artists have to do these days to make a buck. As such, it’s littered with clichés… rump shaking, champagne spilling, lots of big gold chains, flashy cars etc etc.
Laced with irony, Lily hits the nail on the head perfectly.

Hey Anonymous,
We’ve heard nothing from any label about this, so we’re not sure at this stage.

Brilliant! Is there a release date for this?

Can’t stand Lily Allen – for that exact reason. Going on about how artists can’t earn money in the age of illegal downloading, so she whinged and bitched about earning something like $5 million instead of $10 million and quit. Only to what? Return with more music. Blah blah blah
