• It’s already smashed the UK No.1 spot and now the team at Ministry Of Sound is hoping it’ll do the same here in Australia. Storm Queen’s club hit ‘Look Right Through’ is ready to make a summer splash. Originally released in 2011, the track has recently been given a big re-lease on life courtesy of MK’s previously unreleased ‘Dub III’ version, and the buzz about it has reached fever pitch. It’ll drop in Australia on Friday November 29.
• Flume and Chet Faker have teamed up to release a new EP. The three track ‘Lockjaw’ EP, to be released on Friday, sees the pair reuniting after working together on Flume’s debut self-titled LP. Tracks featured are ‘Drop The Game’, ‘This Song Is Not About A Girl’ and ‘What About Us’.
• Architecture In Helsinki has given their fans a taste of something new; the Melbourne-based band has dropped ‘Dream A Little Crazy’ on their followers – the second song to be lifted from their forthcoming (as yet untitled) fifth studio album, which is due early in the new year. • The Rolling Stones will officially open the relaunched, refreshed and reconfigured Adelaide Oval next year. Ahead of the announcement of more Aussie dates in the weeks ahead, the band will play their Adelaide show on Saturday March 22 in what will be their first concert in the City Of Churches in almost 20 years. Tickets are on sale from 9am ACST this Monday.
• Elvis Costello and The Imposters will play two headline shows while they’re in the country in April next year. Confirmed to play the Deni Blues & Roots Festival and Bluesfest in Byron Bay, the band will also perform at Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre on April 17 and Sydney’s State Theatre on April 23. Tickets for both shows are on sale at 9am on Thursday November 28.
• They brought us a series of classic hits in the ’80s and ’90s and now GANGgajang is back – for four very special New South Wales live dates in addition to their forthcoming appearance at the Woodford Folk Festival. The band, most famous for their smash hit ‘Sounds Of Then (This Is Australia)’, will play Lizotte’s in Kincumber and Newcastle on December 18 and 19 respectively, followed by Coogee Diggers (Dec 20) and the West Illawarra Leagues Club (Dec 21).
• Most of us are looking forward to seeing the end of the Aussie winter, but not so Melbourne singer songwriter Hamish Anderson, who’s just delivered his new single ‘Winter’. To celebrate its release, he’s hitting the stage at Melbourne’s Revolver Bar tonight and graces Sydney’s Brighton Up Bar next Wednesday night.• It seems like club tunes are all the rage over in the UK at the moment, with Martin Garrix’ ‘Animals’ dislodging Storm Queen’s ‘Look Right Through’ after a week in the top spot. Lily Allen’s cover of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ debuts in the No.2 position (it’s being used in a Christmas advertising campaign there), while Ellie Goulding’s ‘How Long Will I Love You’ – this year’s BBC Children In Need anthem – is up 114 places to No.3. The Lady Gaga/R.Kelly duet ‘Do What U Want’ premieres at No.9, just ahead of Robbie Williams’ ‘Go Gentle’ (No.10).
• She may have missed the No.1 spot here, but Lady Gaga has topped the UK chart on debut this week with her new album ‘Artpop’. She prises Eminem’s ‘Marshall Mathers LP2’ out of the top spot after just one week and easily accounted for Celine Dion’s ‘Loved Me Back To Life’, which comes in at No.3. Also new this week is Little Mix’ ‘Salute’ (No.4), The Killers’ ‘Direct Hits’ (No.6), Cliff Richard’s ‘The Great Rock N Roll Songbook’ (No.7), Alfie Boe’s ‘Trust’ (No.8) and the new Keane best-of at No.10.
