The boys are back. Dance/pop troupe Justice Crew have been noticeably absent for most of this year, but they haven’t let 2013 go by without releasing new material, in the form of their new single ‘Everybody’.
They’ve also been nominated for two awards at this year’s ARIAs, so we sent a few questions in the boys’ direction about the new single, their ARIA chances and the rumoured new album. Samson from the band gives us the juicy (albeit brief) details.
Q : You gents have experienced unprecedented levels of success since AGT back in 2010. Did you ever in your wildest dreams think you’d be in the position you find yourselves now?
A : As a group, we always tell ourselves to wake up, ‘cause this lifestyle is unbelievable.
Q : What have been some of the highlights for you since winning the show?
A : Touring with great artists such as One Direction, Janet Jackson, Chris Brown, Pitbull, Ke$ha.
Q : You’ve scored ‘Song Of The Year’ and ‘Video Of The Year’ nominations at this year’s ARIAs. How do you rate your chances? And who do you see as your toughest competition?
A : This is a hard one ‘cause there are some great artists who we are competing against. Flume would be the one we will have to look out for.
Q : So tell us about your new single ‘Everybody’ and how it came about.
A : The song came from Pitbull’s team and we got to co-write the track with Danny Mercer. We heard the sax drop and said, “this is it”!
Q : It’s your first new single in almost 12 months. What’s kept you so long??
A : I think it’s just waiting for the right song that we feel is the one to release.
Q : Travelling the world so frequently performing must keep you from that studio, but it must also be good to keep you abreast of the latest sounds…?
A : Music and dancing are our lifestyle. We travel with a studio ‘cause this industry is a tough one and you have to be on top of your game.
Q : What will be the next step in the evolution of Justice Crew?
A : Our next will be releasing an album of all our tracks we have ready to let the world know.
Q : Will this be another edition of your ‘Party Mix’ compilations or something entirely different?
A : It will just be our tracks with a few features.
Q : And obviously the cancellation of the Pitbull/Ke$ha tour must have been a disappointment, but are there plans for you to hit the road anytime soon?
A : Well at the moment, we’re just working on this album and hopefully we’ll get to tour it nationally.
