We love being able to dish out the love to local independent pop talent here at auspOp and here’s one that had us mightily impressed when it landed in our inbox back in June.
Sydney singer songwriter Hayden James dished up this breathtaking piece of alt-pop as his debut single this year, announcing to the world that he was one to watch from here on in.
We said of ‘Permission To Love’, “a sensual, sexy down-tempo future-forward pop piece featuring breathy vocal samples, earthy beats and luscious instrumentation that oozes style and class”. It still does and it still makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside on each listen. Yes, you might not hear this kind of quality on the commercial radio channels, but you should. And we’re here to help champion the indie-pop cause.
Ladies and gentlemen, our No.7 pop song of 2013… It’s Hayden James’ ‘Permission To Love’.
