We’ve given plenty of auspOp love to his partner Anthony Callea over the years, so we guess it’s only fair that we extend the same love to Tim Campbell.
Seeing Tim supporting Anthony on his national tour earlier this year confirmed what an incredible showman he is… Funny, warm and engaging, Tim will finally get his time in the sunshine next year with the release of his debut album ‘High School Disco’.
There’ll be plenty of ’70s and ’80s disco classics to get your platforms and flares into, including the Jackson 5’s ‘Can You Feel It’, Madonna’s ‘Holiday’, Kenny Loggins’ ‘Footloose’ and Simple Minds’ ‘(Don’t You) Forget About Me’.
“I feel as if this album was in my blood from about 8 years of age,” Tim said in a statement. “I have lived through and loved this era of music, and it continues to excite me today. Our high school discos were always a memorable night, with classic melodies and music that had my friends and I on the dance floor all night.
“For many years I have performed these songs and never have they disappointed. I am constantly asked if I have recorded an album, but it never felt like the right time. Now is absolutely the right time and I can’t wait to share our fresh and modern take on these songs, while still honouring the iconic sounds of the 70’s and 80’s. I also CAN’T WAIT to take these songs on the road mid 2014 for a series of not just concerts, but a High School Disco reunion experience. Nothing but FUN!”
Tim Campbell’s ‘High School Disco’ will have you dancing in the streets from Friday April 04.

I tend to agree with Anonymous #3. I can get why people like to relive these songs from that era. What I don’t get is why anyone would want to relive them sung by another singer, surely you can’t get better than listening to the songs by the actual singer.
I hate covers

Hey Anonymous #2,
Anthony has released two studio albums of originals plus a 7 track EP of originals, you might like to check his back catalogue first. His Christmas album is well……. a Christmas album of Carols……as most are (Buble, Human Nature !) and it’s an excellent Christmas album. He released one album of covers this year which amazingly also included two original tracks. Good luck with the album Tim, you are a fantastic entertainer, really looking forward to what is next for you. Thanks for the update auspOp as always.

Seriously, can he nor his partner consider doing originals? Albums of covers as your back catalogue, how uninspiring!!

You certainly have supported great Aussie musicians like Anthony Callea, and it’s terrific to see you also get behind Tim, who is such a great performer.
Don’t forget Tim is also backed by the wonderful Susie Ahearn and a talented band of musicians.
Looking forward to the album and tour next year.
