• Now that the labels are back from their respective summer sojourns, the number of tunes being taken to media each week continues to get back on track. Ministry Of Sound joined the fold this week, servicing the new single from Gold Coast duo The Twins (pictured). The girls have roped in the services of vocalist Amy Rose for the new track, which is called ‘Can’t Keep Us Apart’. The single was released digitally in the middle of December.
• Also out and about so far this week are Beck’s new single ‘Blue Moon’, a Tiesto remix of John Legend’s smash ‘All Of Me’, R5’s ‘Loud’ and the new Uberjak’d single ‘Whistle Bounce’. We’ll be back tomorrow with a more comprehensive wrap of this week’s new tunes over at our FACEBOOK page. Liked us yet?
• Universal Music is crowing the overseas success of Boy & Bear, whose album has just been released in the UK and Europe. Critics are reportedly loving the new LP in Britain and they’ve sold out their two London shows, while in the US, ‘Southern Sun’ has found favour with radio programmers; the track No.1 Most Added to non-commercial radio and No.2 most added to the ‘Triple A’ format.
• Rebecca Ferguson’s UK publicists have confirmed that ‘All That I’ve Got’ has been chosen as the second official single to be lifted from her recently-released album ‘Freedom’. Co-penned by Rebecca with Jarrad Rogers, the track will drop in Britain on March 02, just ahead of her UK tour.
• Adelaide duo The Audreys will release their new album in March. Their new long player is called ‘Til My Tears Roll Away’ and it sees them reconnecting with producer Shane O’Mara, who’s also worked on all of their previous releases. It’s due on March 14.
• US performer Youth Lagoon has apparently travelled great distances for his new single ‘Worms’. According to the peeps at Dew Process, the sounds on the new tune (check it out HERE) emanate from the rings of Uranus. Nothing more from us on that.
• Pharrell holds in the UK No.1 singles spot this week, which should ensure he’s ‘Happy’ for at least another seven days. In fact the entire top four is unchanged, with a debut at No.5 from newcomer Elyar Fox and his track ‘Do It All Over Again’. Shakira and Rihanna’s duet ‘Can’t Remember To Forget You’ just misses the top ten on debut; bagging No.11.
• And Bruce Springsteen may have had ‘High Hopes’ for his new album, but those high hopes have become just reality, with the LP debuting atop the British albums chart. It’s expected to do the same here in Australia on this weekend’s chart. The closest debut to him this week is all the way down in position No.28 from James Vincent McMorrow and his album ‘Post Tropical’.
