Fact : LA traffic is seriously shit. Especially during those morning and evening peak hours which aren’t really hours at all. They tend to blow out to 150 minutes on most morning and afternoon peaks. But there is a nifty little way of getting around the traffic… Carpooling. We encountered said carpool lanes in Los Angeles during our Stateside sojourn late last year and we fully understand the appeal of them and the desperate measures some go to to access them, given how slowly the rest of the traffic tends to move.
And it’s this very subject Anders Trentemøller tackles in the clip for his latest single ‘Gravity’, the third track lifted from his recently-released album ‘Lost’.
He employs the services of actor Oscar Isaac (who plays the lead role in the upcoming film ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’) as a man who’s offering himself up (at a cost) as a spare passenger so that various drivers can avoid the congested non-pool lanes. Still, we don’t care who he is… $10 is a fair slab of cash for fork out for an extra passenger.
But on the plus side, he has the chance to meet some truly kooky and colourful characters along the way, who we’re told were cast to play themselves in their respective roles. That’s scary in itself.
