Can we seriously just give Courtney the Drag Race crown already? The former ‘Australian Idol’ starlet is well on her way to global superstardom with her appearance on the new series of ‘Ru Paul’s Drag Race’, but there’s really no need for Courtney to lipsynch for her life as the girl can sing. Who can forget her 2004 top 30 single ‘Rub Me Wrong’?
Now, however, she’s cannily launched a new single to capitalise on her appearance on ‘Drag Race’ and she’s out to send a message of love to her GLBTIQ friends in Russia, who are being persecuted by Vladimir Putin’s archaic laws.
“There are no greater rights than human rights but it is important to look at the bigger picture,” she says of ‘To Russia With Love’. “Russia isn’t only oppressive toward gay people, it is hard on everyone, particularly women.”
Co-penned with Melbourne producer Paul Brandoli, the track is a slick, thumping dance/pop number with a similarly polished video clip that’s sure to get people talking.
