American pop singer Anastacia is a fighter.
Australian audiences may well be familiar with her battle with breast cancer eleven years ago, when she was between her ‘Freak Of Nature’ and ‘Anastacia’ album projects. She bounced back stronger with her smash single ‘Left Outside Alone’ – her second Australian No.1 hit – and followed it with a succession of singles, a number of which charted.
The single ‘I Can Feel You’ and album ‘Heavy Rotation’ followed, but by that time, Anastacia’s popularity had started to wane locally and she began to concentrate primarily on the European market, especially for the release of her 2012 covers album ‘It’s A Man’s World’.
What local audiences may not know, however, is that Anastacia was diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time early last year.
But once again, she’s fought the good fight, has picked herself up off the floor, dusted herself off, popped the trademark glasses back on and is determined to once again conquer the charts.
Last night, she informed her global ‘Fanily’ of the impending release of her new album ‘Resurrection’, which will be her first album of new material in six long years.
It will be preceded by lead single ‘Stupid Little Things’ and while there’s no mention of a release date for this part of the world – at this stage at least, ‘Resurrection’ is slated for release in most parts of Europe in early May.
