She’s been the voice of US group The Pretenders since the late 1970s. But for the very first time, Chrissie Hynde will step away from her band later this year to release her debut solo offering ‘Stockholm’.
Recorded in the Swedish capital, the album is a collection of eleven new recordings that have been co-penned and produced by Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn and John fame. Neil Young and tennis superstar John McEnroe guest on the LP.
“I wanted to make a power pop album you could dance to – Abba meets John Lennon,” Chrissie says of the new LP. “I think life is serious, and you should take it seriously, but in rock n roll either have a laugh or don’t come to the party.”
‘Stockholm’ is due for release in Australia on Friday June 06.
