Canadian songstress Avril Lavigne has seemingly got the press in a bit of a flap with the video for her new single ‘Hello Kitty’.
Filmed in Japan, the clip (and single) are specifically targeting the all-important Asian market, where Sanrio is still very big business.
As such, the video is filled with cute Japanese flourishes, like bright pastels, Asian backing dancers, a sushi meal, the latest technology, plenty of candy and a cupcake dress.
Avril purists will no doubt be up in arms. Her Asian fanbase may see ‘Hello Kitty’ in an entirely different light.
