It’s less than a month before the eyes of Europe will be firmly affixed on the Danish capital Copenhagen for the start of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. Once again, countries will compete across two semi finals (on May 06 and May 08), with ten countries from each sailing through to the all-important Grand Final on May 10 where they’ll compete against the “big five” of United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Italy and France, along with the host nation.
SOFTENGINE : Something Better
The Finnish entry for 2014 is a rock band by the name of Softengine, who despite being together for a few years, have yet to make any serious dent in their country’s pop charts. In fact, they were only signed to Sony in Finland on the eve of the Eurovision contest and finished penning the track just in the nick of time for it to be chosen as their country’s entry. They’ve cut it super-fine, but will ‘Something Better’ lead to… something better for the five guys?
They’ve got a real ‘Killers’ vibe going on here and the song is listenable and likeable. Depending on their competition in semi final two, ‘Something Better’ stands a very good chance of still standing on May 10.
