In less than three weeks, the eyes of Europe will be firmly affixed on the Danish capital Copenhagen as countries from across the continent descend on the capital in the hope of securing Eurovision glory. As always, there’ll be two semi finals (May 06 and 08), in which countries will vie for one of the 20 places on offer in the Grand Final, alongside the host nation and the “big five” of Germany, Italy, Spain, France and the UK.
Our countdown to this year’s Eurovision continues with a look at the entry from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
TIJANA : To The Sky
Tijana is certainly no stranger to the spotlight in her home country, having enjoyed a recording career that’s spanned more than a decade. And it’s not her first brush with Eurovision either, after taking part in Evropesma (a now defunct pop festival to choose a Eurovision entrant) back in 2006. Fast forward eight years and she’s gone all the way, being chosen to represent the FYR of Macedonia in the second of the semi finals with the English language track ‘To The Sky’.
The track itself is a likeable pop/dance number that could easily sit comfortably on Australia’s radio networks and we’re particularly liking Tijana’s smokey vocals. There’s also plenty of eye candy that might very well have the straight ladies and gay gentlemen booking the earliest possible flight to Skopje.
