Yes, it’s that time of the year again – Eurovision time – and in just over a month’s time, the eyes of Europe will be focussed on the Danish capital Copenhagen as the 59th annual Eurovision Song Contest gets underway.
As with previous years, there are the two semi finals and the Grand Final, with the successful 20 countries from the semis joining the “big six” (UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and host nation Denmark) in the Grand Final.
In our fourth look at the contestants for this year’s Eurovision, we point our compass at Israel, who’ll compete in Semi Final #2.
MEI FINEGOLD : Same Heart
As with Eurovisions across the past decade, there are quite a number of former reality contestants taking the stage to represent their countries this year and Israel is no exception. They’re sending along Mei Finegold, who was the third place getter in Israel’s version of ‘Idol’, ‘Kokhav Nolad 7’, back in 2009. Mei will be performing a track called ‘Same Heart’, which is sung partly in English and partly in Hebrew. It’s a little bit rock, a little bit dance. And though some of Mei’s moves in the clip seem a little conceited, there’s plenty to like here. Will the rest of Europe agree and send Israel further than the second semi final? The jury’s out.
