Australia’s love affair with the Eurovision Song Contest will be on display for all to see again at this year’s event in Copenhagen, with our own Jessica Mauboy being flown over to perform while voting takes place as part of the second semi final. Naturally, the competition will be hot once again, with 31 countries battling it out across two semi finals for the 20 places on offer for the big Grand Final on May 10, where the successful entrants will thrash it out against Italy, Spain, Germany, the UK and France, along with host nation Denmark.
SERGEJ ĆETKOVIĆ : Moj Svijet
The Montenegrins will be one of only eight countries to be performing at this year’s contest in their native tongue and one of only four countries to be performing solely in their native tongue. It’s always a risky move, particularly given most of the continent won’t be fluent in Montenegrin. But sometimes the language isn’t what’s important. If the song’s got a good groove, a fresh sound or if the performer is slightly bonkers, it may just warrant a “dix points” or two.
39 year old Sergej Ćetković has been performing in his homeland for almost 15 years and co-penned the track ‘Moj Svijet’, which means ‘My World’ in English. So what’s it like?
The cinematography in this clip is first rate; soft and warm with some of the most spectacular scenery we’ve seen in a Eurovision clip thus far. The song too is clearly quite stirring and emotional and delivered beautifully by Sergej. Drinking gamers will especially like the key change.
