The Eurovision Song Contest is once again almost upon us. In just a few week’s time, the eyes of Europe will be focused on the Danish capital Copenhagen for the 59th annual competition, where all of Europe gets to decide who’s the fairest of them all.
The Portuguese return to the competition in 2014 after taking a year off last year and will get their chance to shine in front of the continent as part of the first semi final on Tuesday May 06. No doubt they’ll be hoping to do enough to make it through to the Grand Final on May 10.
SUZY : Quero Ser Tua
One of only a handful of tracks in this year’s competition that will be performed solely in the native tongue, singer Suzy (real name Susana Guerra) will perform ‘Quero Ser Tua’ (‘I Want To Be Yours’) at the first of the semi finals. Suzy has been performing in her homeland for well over a decade, releasing her first album back in 2002.
‘Quero Ser Tua’ is a dance/pop party anthem that is infused with Mediterranean flourishes that remind us quite a bit of Kaoma’s ‘Lambada’. We’re not sure a trio of drummers will be spectacular enough on the Eurovision stage to send Portugal through.
