It’s been a daily feature on the site since the end of last month, but there are still plenty of days left and plenty of entries to get our pop chops around before the start of the 59th Eurovision Song Contest. Held in Copenhagen, Denmark this year after Emmelie de Forest’s win last year, the competition is again split into two semi finals (May 06 and 08) and the all-important Grand Final (May 10), with countries from across Europe competing for ultimate glory.
TINKARA KOVAČ : Round And Round
Today we’re having a quick squizz at the Slovenian entry. As we’ve mentioned before, Eurovision is held in such high regard throughout Europe that some competitors see it as the be all and end all. 35 year old Tinkara has attempted to represent Slovenia three times previously. She came closest back in 1999, placing second in her country’s national selection. But in 2014, 17 years after her first attempt, she’ll finally be on stage at the second semi final for all of Europe to see.
So what’s the song like? Sang in English with a splash of Slovene, ‘Round And Round’ is (apart from the flute) a pretty decent straightforward pop offering that’s accompanied by a stunning video clip shot on the country’s coast.
