• Australia’s Glamberts are no doubt celebrating the news that their favourite popstar is back on the radio airwaves across the country as part of the new Avicii single ‘Lay Me Down’. The collaboration between the Swedish superstar DJ, legendary producer Nile Rodgers and Adam Lambert hit media late last week, giving programmers the chance to give it a spin across the Easter break.
• It’s a little quieter on the new music front this week with the short three day working week squished in between the Easter Monday holiday and ANZAC Day. But remixes of Diana Rouvas’ debut single ‘Heart Of Goodbye’, Paul Weller’s ‘Brand New Toy’ (from his upcoming album ‘More Modern Classics’) and ‘Bad Boys Get Me Good’ – a collaboration between Jasmine Rae and Kellie Pickler.
• Speaking of ANZAC Day, Melbourne singer songwriter Chris Doheny has penned a track called ‘Gallipoli’ to commemorate this year’s event. To be released on Friday, all proceeds from sales of the song will donated directly to the RSL of Australia.
• The good news just keeps coming for Brisbane band Sheppard. In addition to their latest single ‘Geronimo’ clinging to the No.1 spot for the second week in a row over the weekend, they’ve just been confirmed as the support act on Keith Urban’s forthcoming ‘Light The Fuse’ Australian tour, which kicks off in Townsville on June 14.
• Sony Music has announced the upcoming local release of Jack White’s new album ‘Lazaretto’. The new 11 track LP features the just-released title track, which is available as an instant download when pre-ordering the album. It’s due to drop locally on Friday June 06.
• Iggy Azalea’s latest single ‘Fancy’ with Charli XCX has now been certified gold in Australia, for sales of 35,000 copies of more. The news comes just days before the release of Iggy’s long-awaited debut album ‘The New Classic’.
• The seasons may have gone from the covers, but the iconic ‘NOW’ compilations will return to Australian stores early next month with the release of ‘NOW 2014 : Volume 1’. The 22 track release comprises recent hits from Kim Cesarion, Taylor Henderson, A Great Big World, The Vamps, Neon Jungle, John Martin and more. It’s out on Friday May 09.
• Canadian songstress Kiesza is doing something very right, with her debut single ‘Hideaway’ slamming the No.1 spot on the British singles chart on debut this week. She prises out Sigma’s single ‘Nobody To Love’ and holds Shift K3y at bay; their track ‘Touch’ premiering at No.3. Tove Lo has been the name on many a pop lip already this year and ‘Stay High’ jumps six spots to No.6. Elyar Fox just misses the top ten with his new tune ‘A Billion Girls’, settling for a No.11 debut.
• Over on the UK albums chart, it’s all about Paolo Nutini and his ‘Caustic Love’ album, which debuts in the top spot this week, holding off the debut album ‘Meet The Vamps’ by (you guessed it) The Vamps, which debuts at No.2.
