• Sony Music has revealed more details about the new single from British boyband One Direction. As mentioned by the boys across the weekend, ‘You & I’ has been chosen as the latest tune to be lifted from their ‘Midnight Memories’ LP and has been given the remix treatment by bandmember Liam (‘The Payno Remix’ HERE). The official video is set to go live on Friday sometime, with the digital EP dropping on Sunday May 25.
• As predicted late on Monday, the new Lana Del Rey single ‘West Coast’ has indeed now impacted Australian media. The first single to be lifted from the US singer’s upcoming album ‘Ultraviolence’ will be released digitally today and is just one of a handful of new tunes doing the rounds this week.
• Also out and about are Jake Bugg’s ‘Messed Up Kids’, the Peachy & Murphy remix of Marcia Hines’ new single ‘Amazing’, Ricki-Lee’s ‘All We Need Is Love’, American Authors’ ‘Believer’ and a new Wolfmother single, ‘Enemy Is Your Mind’. • With Cyclone Ita bearing down on the Queensland coast over the weekend, naturally the boys from Justice Crew were forced into postponing their Cairns Convention Centre concert on Sunday. But the news is good for the boys’ Cairns fans, with news that they’ve rescheduled the show for Tuesday April 29. All other details remain the same and original tickets remain valid for the new performance.
• The boys from OneRepublic have dropped a brand new single. ‘Love Runs Out’, which was also serviced to media this week, was penned by lead singer Ryan Tedder while the band was on tour in Europe during stops in Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris. It’s available digitally now.
• The Dandy Warhols have added extra dates to their upcoming Australian tour to cope with demand. They’ve already sold out three shows at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel and have added a fourth date in the Victorian capital (in early September), while also adding a second Perth date – at the Astor Theatre – on August 21. Tickets for both new shows are on sale now.
• Aloe Blacc claimed it last week with ‘The Man’, but the No.1 spot on the UK singles chart has been taken again, this time by dance outfit Sigma and their single ‘Nobody To Love’. The Vamps’ new tune ‘Last Night’ enters the countdown at a very respectable No.2, with our own Iggy Azalea claiming the No.5 spot on debut (alongside Charli XCX) with ‘Fancy’. The Saturdays’ new single ‘Not Giving Up’ debuts at a lowly No.19 (their second lowest chart performance in seven years).
• It two weeks in a row at No.1 for Kaiser Chiefs’ new album ‘Education, Education, Education & War’ in Britain, which beats out a strong challenge from Paloma Faith and her album ‘A Perfect Contradiction’, which powers from No.10 to No.2. Aloe Blacc follows up a No.1 debut for ‘The Man’ with a No.5 debut for his album ‘Lift Your Spirit’.
