Ricky Martin’s Supersong single ‘Vida’ has finally made it to the global retail marketplace this week and has subsequently seen its official video (below) premiere online.
Supersong was a project launched across the Sony group of companies late last year to find a song that would encompass the exhilaration, participation and competition of the upcoming FIFA Soccer World Cup, to be held in cities throughout Brazil from mid-June.
Ricky is no stranger to World Cup anthems, obviously, having previous released ‘The Cup Of Life’ (‘La Copa De La Vida’) as the official song of the 1998 edition in France. It was a No.1 hit here in Australia at a time when Ricky fever was peaking.
Produced by Salaam Remi (Fergie, Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys), ‘Vida’ is incredibly infectious and plays heavily to Ricky’s Latin roots and while it’s likeable, bright and fresh – everything organisers hope the World Cup to be – we can’t help but feel that it pales in comparison to the 1998 track.
