One gets the sneaking suspicion that the team at Sony across the globe is giving this new Rita Ora project one hell of a push in the hope of launching her into the pop music stratosphere.
The British songstress has teamed up with none other than Calvin Harris for her new single ‘I Will Never Let You Down’, which was delivered to Aussie media late yesterday. And quick-as-a-flash, she’s followed up the track with the release of the official video (below) overnight (AEDT).
With a name like Calvin’s attached to it, you’d anticipate that ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ would be one of those straight-up dancefloor monsters, but in reality, that’s only partly true. The verses take on a subdued, almost acoustic feel before those trademark beats kick in for a celebratory dance in the choruses, giving the single a feeling of being two songs in one. Given it’s so up and down all the way through, the song’s split personality is bound to either charm or annoy.
Clip-wise, Ms Rita is kicking goals in the styling department and though it’s mostly studio-based, it does plenty to hold your attention.
