British songstress Roisin Murphy will release a brand new EP at the end of next month.
But the ‘Mi Senti’ EP is something new altogether for the former Moloko vocalist; it’s recorded entirely in Italian.
Recorded with her Milanese music producer partner Sebastiano Properzi, the EP comprises six new recordings, including an original track entitled ‘In Sintesi’ (‘In Synthesis’) and five cover versions of classic Italian pop hits.
“Quite apart from the language, in some of the songs I was on the edge of what my voice can do,” Roisin says of the project. “For the Mina songs in particular (‘Ancora Ancora Ancora’ and ‘Non Credere’) there were tears and I almost walked away and gave up.”
Thankfully she didn’t, however, and the result is the six track EP, which will be released on Wednesday May 28. Remixes will follow later in the year.
