According to their publicists, Brisbane band Sheppard have become the first independent Aussie act to top the ARIA singles charts in ten years (that’d be Cosima’s ‘When The War Is Over’, right?) with their latest track ‘Geronimo’.
There’s no denying it’s now a bonafide smash, eclipsing all their previous chart efforts, rocketing to the top spot by 17 places after just three weeks in.
And there’s no slowing them down, with the official video breaking today.
It’s fair to say that a number of this country’s major labels could learn a thing or two from the ‘Geronimo’ clip; though it’ll no doubt have been subjected to the tightest of budgetary constraints, the band’s come up with a conflict over a cardboard city, in which they prepare to use their cardboard weapons to fight their similarly-clad foes.
But Sheppard & co have a trump card – which is also made of cardboard. Who’ll win?
