Here we are at the pointy end of our Countdown To Eurovision series. This time next week, all the finalists will be gathered at Copenhagen’s B&W Hallerne in preparedness for the Grand Final of the 59th Eurovision Song Contest.
Naturally, there’ll be disappointment for those countries that didn’t make it through the semi finals (which kick off on Tuesday night, European time), but there’ll be renewed hope for those who did as they prepare to battle it out with the other 25 countries for the ultimate accolade… Eurovision glory.
DONATAN & CLEO : My Słowianie
It’s been a few years since Poland took part in the Eurovision Song Contest, but they’re back in 2014 with an entry by producer Donatan and vocalist Cleo; the latter a contestant on the first Polish edition of ‘X Factor’ back in 2011. ‘My Słowianie’ is the song they hope to take all the way to the Grand Final, but has it got what it takes?
It’s an interesting concoction, blending traditional Polish folk music with a more contemporary urban/pop feel, slick production and an army of handclaps. In the visual version (below), the Poles have obviously decided that sex sells, so there’s plenty of boob shots to tease and tantalise. It’s all highly suggestive. But the track in its own right works well, so expect to see Poland back in action at the Grand Final.
