To be honest, ‘Love Never Felt So Good’ feels like the most honest of all the Michael Jackson posthumous releases thus far. It’s sad then that the single (nor the new album ‘Xscape’, from which it’s lifted) seems to have caused too much of a ripple on the digital sales charts thus far.
There are two versions of the track floating around; the Michael Jackson solo edition and this one, featuring guest vocals by Justin Timberlake, who producers no doubt hope will give the single a little infusion of ‘now’.
The clip (which premiered on ‘Ellen’ earlier this week) features plenty of homages to the King Of Pop’s video clips, along with lots of his dance style throughout, but despite the great track – and JT’s vocals are perfectly matched here – it’s the production that doesn’t quite feel right. The drums feel a little harsh in the mix and it all just feels to be lacking the warmth and magic that would’ve made ‘Love Never Felt So Good’ truly special.
In other news, the Fedde Le Grand remix (cover image bottom), which has already been delivered to media across the country, will be released on Friday May 30.
