• Tiesto’s single ‘Wasted’ is one of a number of new tunes doing the rounds this week. The track, featuring guest vocals from Matthew Korma, also has an Australian connection; it was co-penned by Nick and Lewis from Aussie duo Twice As Nice. ‘Wasted’ is the follow-up to the Dutch superstar’s platinum hit ‘Red Lights’ and is lifted from Tiesto’s recently announced album ‘A Town Called Paradise’, due locally on June 20.
• Jess Mauboy’s Eurovision single ‘Sea Of Flags’, former UK smash ‘Nobody To Love’ by Sigma, remixes of Ellie Goulding’s ‘Beating Heart’ and Andy Bull’s new tune Talk Too Much’ are among other tracks out and about this week, with a juicier list going live in our FACEBOOK feed tomorrow.
• Shock Entertainment will release the new Elton John live DVD ‘The Million Dollar Piano’ in early July. Filmed during Elton’s residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, the high-definition release comprises some of the legendary performer’s biggest hits including ‘Bennie And The Jets’, ‘Circle Of Life’, ‘Philadelphia Freedom’, ‘I’m Still Standing’, ‘Crocodile Rock’ and more. It’ll be released on Blu Ray and DVD on Friday July 04.
• LA-based rapper and producer Kid Ink will tour Australia in August. The performer will touch down in Brisbane on August 22 for the first of four shows as part of his ‘My Own Lane’ tour; his Australian visit also taking in stops in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Tickets for all dates are on sale from midday this Friday.
• Aussie outfit The Cockroaches will release a best-of collection on June 13. ‘Hey Let’s Go! The Best Of The Cockroaches’ will comprise the band’s hits from 1984-1994, with each of the band’s back-catalogue albums to be released digitally on the same day. To celebrate the release of the best-of, the band will come back together for two very special shows in Sydney; at the Dee Why RSL on June 14 and the Rooty Hill RSL on June 27. Tickets are on sale now.
• ‘Summer’ has been short-lived, on the UK singles chart at least, with Calvin Harris relinquishing the top spot after just one week and being replaced by the track he replaced; Mr Probs’ single ‘Waves’. The only track to debut in the top ten this week in Britain is Pitbull’s track ‘Wild Wild Love’, which comes in at No.6, but Paloma Faith’s new tune ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ bullets from No.20 to No.7.
• Lily Allen has premiered in the No.1 spot on the UK album chart with her critically acclaimed new LP ‘Sheezus’. Gary Barlow’s album ‘Since I Saw You Last’ bullets from No.38 to No.2, matching its original peak. Paolo Nutini’s ‘Caustic Love’ drops to No.3, with further top ten debuts coming from Black Stone Cherry (No.5), Horrors (No.6) and Anastacia (No.9).
