Songstress Sarah Blasko has this morning announced that she’ll perform a one-off show in Sydney later this month in support of the Refugee Council Of Australia.
To take place in the middle of Refugee Week (of which Sarah is an ambassador), the show aims to raise much needed funds for the council which, after 33 years, will have its funding axed by the federal government following an announcement last week.
“I’m emerging from what I’ll affectionately call my ‘fifth album writing cave’ to play this special show at the Chaser’s Giant Dwarf Theatre during Refugee Week,” Sarah said in a statement. “I’m an ambassador this year and the Refugee Council need financial support now more than ever to continue their positive work within refugee communities in Australia. They are also an important force in lifting the veil on our country’s treatment of asylum seekers. So, come watch me sing for the night & you’ll be supporting them. I promise at least one new song & special guests.”
Tickets for the June 20 show will go on sale from 9am this Wednesday.
