British starlet Ella Eyre is best known to us Aussies as the vocalist on last year’s top ten Rudimental hit ‘Waiting All Night’.
But just like labelmate Sam Smith, whose debut album premiered atop the British charts this week, she’s been touted as one to watch throughout 2014, nominated for the ‘Critics’ Choice’ Award at the Brits and nominated in the BBC’s ‘Sound Of 2014’, in which she placed second behind – you guessed it – Sam Smith.
And though she released her debut solo EP at the end of last year, it’s with her debut single ‘If I Go’ that Ella truly announces her arrival onto pop’s main stage.
Enter too the official video which dropped on Friday, in which she and her co-stars set about re-writing the rules of gravity.
Vocally, think Adele, Paloma Faith or perhaps a heady combination of the two and the production is uplifting and fresh, with perhaps reminiscences of John Newman’s ‘Love Me Again’. It’s all so addictive and we’re loving what we hear.
‘If I Go’ is due at Aussie digital retail on Friday June 20.
