She might have experienced what we came to know in Australia as “Ricki-Lee syndrome” (where a favourite to win the competition gets eliminated early because everyone automatically assumes they’ll win and thus don’t vote), but Ella Henderson’s 2012 UK ‘X Factor’ journey and ultimate sixth place finish doesn’t seem to have done her career chances any harm.
So popular was the singer and such was the outrage after her elimination that she inked a deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco Records shortly after the competition.
Fast forward to 2014 and her debut single ‘Ghost’, which she co-penned with Ryan Tedder, has just premiered at No.1 on the UK singles chart.
And it would appear it’s not just the Brits taking to the track, with Australian action not far behind.
The track was serviced to Aussie media just over a week ago and is already finding favour with Australia’s major radio networks. And while it’s still to find its feet in the retail sphere locally, we reckon it’s only going to be a matter of time. Trust us… this is one ‘Ghost’ you’ll gladly let haunt you.
