Anyone thinking that former Fremantle songstress Kathryn Rollins was just going to play it safe and stay in the same lane stylistically as her 2013 EP ‘Reckless’ had better check their preconceptions at the door, because her new single ‘Cut & Paste It’ has thrown her followers a real curveball.
Gone is the acoustic pop of then, replaced by an electronic pop offering with a multitude of handclaps and pulsing beats.
“I’d written a lot of ‘angsty guitar songs’ in my time,” the singer says of the new track, “(so) I wanted to write something fun and upbeat. I wanted to be empowered, to present something really confident and celebrate growth and excitement.”
She’s certainly fulfilled the charter with ‘Cut & Paste It’, which is available digitally now.
