• The new Maroon 5 single ‘Maps’ is now officially at Aussie digital retail and has already been enjoying time within the top 40 on the local iTunes chart. The lead single from the band’s forthcoming album ‘V’, ‘Maps’ was produced by Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella and was serviced to Australian media to co-incide with its digital release on Monday.
• Among the other new tunes impacting your local radio station this week are the new 360 single featuring Gossling (‘Price Of Fame’), Enrique Iglesias’ ‘There Goes My Baby’, ‘World On Fire’ by Slash, a radio edit of deadmau5’s ‘Seeya’ and The Potbelleez’ ‘Here On Earth’. • EMI will release The Beatles’ original mono studio albums on vinyl this September. The new editions were remastered at Abbey Road directly from the analogue masters and will be released as individual LPs and as a limited edition boxset comprising 14 LPs, along with a hardbound book. All are available on Friday September 05.
• Former Melbourne DJ Kaz James the main man on the new David Guetta single ‘Blast Off’. The track was penned on board a flight in between live appearances throughout Asia and was premiered recently by Mister Guetta in Miami. Kaz, meanwhile, will play alongside David at Pacha and Ushuaia in Ibiza during the northern summer.
• Speaking of superstar EDM gods, Dutch DJ Hardwell has confirmed that he’ll be in Australia for live appearances in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in October. He’ll kick off at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on October 03 before hitting Sydney’s Domain on October 04 and the Riverstage in Brisbane on October 05. Tickets for all are on sale from midday tomorrow.
• Eskimo Joe’s lead vocalist Kav Temperley will tour the country throughout July, August and September. The tour is in support of the ten year anniversary of the band’s breakthrough album ‘A Song Is A City’ and will see Kav playing the songs from it in acoustic mode. “I love how the whole album works on just an acoustic guitar, and there are so many stories that now, from a safe distance, I’m ready to tell.” The 26 date tour kicks off at the Brass Monkey in Cronulla on July 17 and finishes up in Broome on September 12. Tickets are on sale tomorrow from 9am.
• Former British ‘X Factor’ starlet Ella Henderson has premiered in the No.1 spot on this week’s UK singles chart with her (rather excellent) debut single ‘Ghosts’. She knocks Ed Sheeran from the top spot after just one week, while the new Tiesto single ‘Wasted’ debuts in the No.3 position. Little Mix bullet into the top ten with ‘Salute’ (No.24 to No.6) and ‘Noble England’ pays posthumous tribute to the comedy genius of Rik Mayall, allowing the track to debut at No.7.
• Kasabian steals the limelight on the UK albums chart this week with their new LP ’48:13′, which is apparently the album’s running time. Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ drops to No.3, leaving Coldplay to enjoy the No.2 spot for the third week in succession. There are debuts at Nos.4, 5 and 6 from Jack White’s ‘Lazaretto’, Passenger’s ‘Whispers’ and Dolly Parton’s ‘Blue Smoke – Best Of’ respectively. First Aid Kit’s ‘Stay Gold’ just misses the top ten, debuting at No.11.
