As revealed in our recent INTERVIEW, the collaboration between Australian soul queen Marcia Hines and actor Russell Crowe came about primarily because of a previous collaboration.
“I’d already worked with Russell on his album ‘My Hand, My Heart’ and I sang a song with him called ‘Testify’,” Marcia says of ‘Remedy’. “So I got in touch with him and said that I had a song I’d love him to record with me. He said, ‘okay send it to me and I’ll tell you what I think’ and I sent it to him and he said ‘yes’.” The rest, as they say, is history.
But it’s not just vocals Russell’s contributed to this release. The award-winning star has also directed and starred in the official video (below).
It’s a pretty ambitious piece too, with Marcia playing a surgeon’s assistant who’s clearly smitten for Mister Surgeon (played by Crowe). Breaking out of the surgery, Marcia and her co-horts take to the stage to perform a high-energy, ’60s-esque routine. Marcia smashes it.
