• She’s not doing too badly on the iTunes singles chart thus far, but now Cheryl Cole is starting to see some Aussie radio love for her new single ‘Crazy Stupid Love’. The new track, featuring guest vocals by Tinie Tempah, is the first from her forthcoming fourth studio album, due in November this year and was serviced to media this week.
• Of course, Cheryl’s not the only one battling for the affections of Aussie media this week. Oh no. Also desperately seeking some love are Katy Perry’s ‘This Is How We Do’, Professor Green’s ‘Not Your Man’, Sky Ferreira’s ’24 Hours’ and the excellent new Duke Dumont single ‘Won’t Look Back’. • Tina Arena fans will be thrilled to know that remixes are indeed incoming of her new single ‘Still Running’. While there are no details yet as to who’s contributed their skills, a remix bundle looks likely to see the light of day on August 15.
• Ariana Grande? Check. Paloma Faith? Check. Looks like it’s promo tour central at the moment, but Sony tells us to expect more in the weeks ahead, with George Ezra (‘Budapest’) landing next week, US girl group G.R.L. touching down for seven days of promo from August 10 and Britain’s Ella Henderson (read our recent interview with the ‘Ghost’ starlet HERE) due to touch down for a four day visit from August 18.
• Aussie music royalty Jimmy Barnes has lifted the lid on the cover of his forthcoming album release ’30/30′ (above). Celebrating three decades as a solo artist in the music industry, the album sees the gravely-vocaled star reinterpret some of his biggest hits alongside some of Australia’s biggest names in music, including The Living End on lead single ‘Lay Down Your Guns’.
• Andy Bull has sold out his first Melbourne show as part of his upcoming ‘Sea Of Approval’ tour. As such, he’s keen to ensure nobody misses out and has added a second show in the Victorian capital – again at the city’s Corner Hotel. He’ll now also play Sunday September 28 in addition to his Saturday September 27 show.
• British vocal quintet Black Voices will make their long-awaited return to Australia in late October in what’s the group’s first visit to Australia in seven years. The ladies are set to play Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Penrith as part of their visit, which kicks off in Melbourne on October 30. Tickets for the Melbourne show are on sale tomorrow, with all other dates to follow on Wednesday August 06.
• Look out Adelaide! There’s a new festival in town. ‘Follow The Sun’ will impact the gorgeous beachside suburb of Glenelg in October this year, delivering a swag of top name talent. The one day event aims to celebrate blues and roots music and will bring together the likes of Paul Dempsey, Bonjah, Dallas Frasca and many more at Wigley Reserve on Sunday October 05. Tickets are on sale this Friday.
• Queenscliff Music Festival just keeps getting bigger. Organisers have revealed more big names for the November 28-30 event, confirming that the likes of Dan Sultan, Husky, Dyson Stringer Cloher, The Delta RiggsTijuana Cartel and more will form part of the line-up.
• Sydney’s Surry Hills Festival returns in September this year and organisers have called for applications to be part of it. They’re looking for local performers, bands and DJs to get involved to help make this year’s an “Event of Stories, Love & Tales”. It hits the suburb for 12 big hours on Saturday September 27.
• They’d already notched up a little bit of chart success down under with their debut single ‘Me And My Broken Heart’, but it’s taken a while for Rixton’s single to be released in their homeland. Now that it has, however, it’s given them a big, big hit; the single debuting in the No.1 spot on this week’s UK singles chart. The new Nicole Scherzinger single ‘Your Love’ debuts in the No.6 spot, with Ella Eyre’s excellent ‘If I Go’ coming in ten places lower.
• And finally, Ed Sheeran’s going nowhere on the British albums chart, with his sophomore project ‘x’ maintaining its No.1 heading for the fourth successive week. This week he holds Morrissey’s new album ‘World Peace Is None Of Your Business’ off the top spot (it’s in at No.2). Jungle’s self-titled set is in at No.7, with Ellie Goulding’s ‘Halcyon Days’ shooting up ten spots to No.10.
