Lakyn Heperi impressed during the inaugural season of ‘The Voice’ and he’s continued to do so after the competition, especially with his breakout ‘Better Than That’ EP, released at the end of 2012.
New music since has been a long time coming, and though we might still be waiting for Lakyn’s own original work, he’s decided to gift us the ‘Not Original Material’ EP.
“I just wanted to do something like this for those of you who are waiting ever so patiently for me to bring out some more of my own songs (nearly there!),” the singer hinted in a statement.
The EP features five tracks, all covers, including Lakyn’s take on Beyoncé’s ‘Drunk In Love’ and London Grammar’s ‘Strong’, along with Frank Ocean’s ‘Thinkin Bout You’, Kimbra’s ‘Two Way Street’ and Drake’s ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’, the latter three being uploaded to his Youtube account across the past few years.
It’s due at retail this Friday.
In the meantime, Lakyn’s also announced a duo of intimate headline shows in October; one each in Sydney and Brisbane, tickets for which are available via his OFFICIAL WEBSITE.
October 03 : Sydney (The Vanguard)
October 04 : Brisbane (Bearded Lady)
