He may have shown us a little love in the photo (left) which was sent to media to originally publicise the tour announcement, but it would appear that Rick Springfield is turning his back on Aussie fans (for now) in favour of a new movie role.
Lennard Promotions made the announcement earlier this afternoon, confirming all nine shows across the country throughout October have been cancelled, after the ‘Jessie’s Girl’ singer scored a co-starring part in the new Meryl Streep movie ‘Ricki & The Flash’.
“Sorry to all my Aussie fans,” the singer said in a statement. “I was so looking forward to playing for you for the first time in 30 years. I promise to make it up to you next year. In the meantime, this movie is a great opportunity. It’s not every day that Meryl Streep and Jonathan Demme come calling.”
It’s news that will no doubt disappoint his local fans, but the Lennard Promotions team have hinted that a 2015 tour is a distinct possibility.
Ticketholders should go to their place of purchase for a full refund.
