• Swedish DJ Alesso has teamed up with chart favourite Tove Lo for his new single ‘Heroes’. On the way down under later this year to take part in the national Stereosonic Festival across the country, the new single is one of a handful of tracks to make their way to Aussie media this week.
• Also ready to go off at local radio are the R5 track ‘Heart Made Up On You’, The Madden Brothers’ new single ‘Dear Jane’, Andrew De Silva’s perviously mentioned ‘Now That I Believe’ and Lady Antebellum’s ‘One Great Mystery’. • British singer Jamie Cullum will release a new album next month. It’s called ‘Interlude’ and features appearances by Sony songstress Laura Mvula and Blue Note Jazz crooner Gregory Porter. ‘Interlude’ will be available in Australia from Friday October 03 and is already up for pre-order.
• The AFL is set to roll out the big guns for this year’s AFL Grand Final, with the league this week confirming Welsh superstar Sir Tom Jones will headline the entertainment. But he’s not the only big name ready to tear up the MCG on that ‘one day in September’, with Ed Sheeran also confirmed, alongside Olivia Newton-John (who’ll sing the national anthem) and Mike Brady.
• Warner recording artist Bobby Fox headlines a mass of Australian music industry names who’ll raise funds for the YWCA in New South Wales as part of the ‘A Night At The Rock Opera’ concert at Sydney’s State Theatre on November 24. Among the other artists confirmed to appear are Emma Pask, Glenn Shorrock, Jack Vidgen and Robyn Loau. Tickets are on sale from Monday September 15. Check the trailer HERE.
• The Blurst Of Times Festival is set to expand to Sydney and Melbourne later this year after impressing in its inaugural airing in Brisbane last year. With a cavalcade of big name performers locked in, the all-important dates this year are Saturday October 18 for Brisbane, Sunday October 19 for Melbourne and Saturday October 25 for Sydney.
• It’s already going gangbusters on the Aussie charts and now the Lilly Wood and Robin Schulz single ‘Prayer In C’ has impacted the British charts in a big, big way. It bullets from No.115 last week to the top spot on the UK singles chart this week, even beating off stiff competition from Maroon 5’s ‘Maps’ to the No.1 position. That’s not to say ‘Maps’ hasn’t performed in the UK… It’s new at No.2, dropping last week’s No.1 – David Guetta’s ‘Lovers On The Sun’ – down into the No.3 spot. Iggy Azalea’s ‘Black Widow’ and Sam Smith’s ‘I’m Not The Only One’ both improve into the top ten, while Ella Henderson’s ‘Ghost’ finally vacates the top ten after almost three months.
• It’s all about Royal Blood on the British albums chart this week, with the British duo’s self-titled debut LP premiering in top spot. Ariana Grande’s ‘My Everything’ is new at No.3, Collabro’s ‘Stars’ drops from one to four and with her first tour in 35 years now in full swing, Kate Bush’s albums start peppering the British charts. ‘The Whole Story’ is up from 15 to 6, ‘Hounds Of Love’ from No.29 to No.9 and ’50 Words For Snow’ up from No.83 to No.20. Staggeringly, eleven albums out of the entire British top 50 this week belong to Kate Bush.
