• After bringing you the news about Karise Eden’s new single ‘Dynamite’ earlier in the week, further details about her new album ‘Things I’ve Done’ surfaced, including the cover image (above). Karise’s long-awaited second LP comprises a dozen new songs and is due on Friday October 17.
• To coincide with its digital release, Universal Music serviced the new Havana Brown single ‘Better Not Said’ to Aussie media yesterday. Remixes on the digital package come courtesy of Aussies Timmy Trumpet and Toneshifterz. The ‘Better Not Said’ video was filmed in Sydney and is set to premiere on Friday.
• Sydney’s Luna Park will get a little spookier this Halloween, with a brand new music festival called ‘Ouija Beats’. Some of our favourite electronic acts are ready to perform, including Panama, Olympic Ayres, Basenji and more. Tickets are on sale now.
• Superstar Welsh DJ Sasha is heading our way in November for a series of appearances across the country. He’ll be whipping the crowd into a frenzy at Sydney’s Chinese Laundry in the afternoon of November 01 before catching a flight to Brisbane for a nighttime appearance at The Met. Then the frequent flyer miles will mount as he jets to Perth for a gig at The Court on November 02, before he wraps things up with a show at Melbourne’s Prince Of Wales on November 03.
• Cheap Trick and The Angels have announced a national tour. It’ll be the former’s first visit to our shores in seven years and both bands will be belting out the hits at a series of A Day On The Green events in five states. Shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s Forum Theatre are also locked in, with tickets for all on sale this Friday.
• Ministry Of Sound Australia has announced they’ve inked a deal with New Zealand rapper Savage. Savage is currently rocking the ARIA charts with his Timmy Trumpet collaboration ‘Freaks’, which was steady at No.5 as of last weekend. In a statement, the performer said, “Joining the Ministry Of Sound Australia family has been a really exciting turning point in my career as it has allowed me to reinvent myself as an artist and as an entertainer. It’s been amazing to see the success of the ‘Swing’ remix by Joel Fletcher and now ‘Freaks’ with Timmy Trumpet – all within the space of a year! My future in this lane with Ministry is looking to be a great one!”
• She may have been able to hold her at bay for a couple of weeks, but Taylor Swift simply couldn’t shake off Meghan Trainor when it came to this week’s US No.1 single. ‘Shake It Off’ has now gone from the top spot after two weeks, replaced by the Aussie chart hit ‘All About That Bass’, which peaks just as Meghan’s ‘Title’ EP is released down under. Iggy Azalea’s ‘Black Widow’ crawls into the No.5 position and Maroon 5 find themselves in top ten action again, with thanks to ‘Maps’ (No.11 to No.9).
• Speaking of Maroon 5, they’re in action (big action) on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, with their fifth LP ‘V’ debuting in the top spot, knocking Ms Grande off her perch after just one week. Jeezy’s in at No.2 with ‘Seen It All : The Autobiography’, with Ariana relegated to the No.4 spot. The new Counting Crows album ‘Somewhere Under Wonderland’ premieres at a respectable No.6.
