The cream of Australia’s independent music industry assembled in Melbourne last night for the 2014 Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards.
Celebrating the contribution and the success of our indies, awards were presented across a range of categories, including the Best Independent Single/EP, Best Independent Album and Best Independent Artist.
Melbourne songstress Courtney Barnett was one of the biggest winners of the night, taking out the awards for Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Single/EP for her single ‘Avant Gardener’.
Rockers Violent Soho walked away with the spoils too; nabbing the gongs for Best Independent Album and Best Independent Hard Rock, Heavy or Punk Album for their LP ‘Hungry Ghost’.
