Given its release to coincide with World AIDS day, which is today, we thought we’d hold off publishing the video for Bright Light Bright Lights’ reworking of his single ‘Everything I Ever Wanted’.
Featuring London’s oldest LGBT choir, the Pink Singers, on back-up vocal duty, the new edition of the song was released globally last week, with 20 pence from the sale of each single going directly towards the Elton John AIDS Foundation to help those living with, affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS.
“I really wanted to do something to help raise money for World AIDS Day,” Bright Light Bright Light (aka Rod Thomas) said in a statement. “I know many people who have been affected by the disease and making pop music, I don’t get to do an awful lot that feels like it helps a wider community. And while I love working in a pop world, it’s so important for me to still be connected to the real world and real people. I found The Pink Singers who are a brilliant choir and London’s longest standing LGBT choir. Their energy and enthusiasm was so wonderful, perfect for the song and for the project. I hope we can raise money, and in some small way I can help to fight AIDS and to give something back to Elton to thank him for all his support of my work, by raising money for his AIDS Foundation and the excellent work he and his team do.”
