The excitement stakes have been raised for the release of the latest in the series of ‘The Hunger Games’ movies, with the unveiling of the first official song lifted from the soundtrack of ‘Mockingjay Part I’, which is due a week from today.
It’s birthday girl (18 today!) Lorde who’s contributing the first musical chapter with her top 40 (top five in New Zealand) single ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’.
Lorde’s gorgeously smokey vocals are complemented by big, bold production and a clip that shuffles between an old motel room to an aircraft hangar, the middle of the street under torchlight, poolside and in a bus stop (we have to admit that we’d be quietly freaked out if we drove past in the dead of night and saw her just sitting in the latter silently).
Though there’s no footage from the film to speak of, it seems the clip’s been gifted a bit of a budget, given its locations and film-esque quality.
