British producer Mark Ronson, best known for his collaborations with top name pop talent including Lily Allen, Daniel Merriweather, Katy B, Boy George and the late Amy Winehouse, recently burst back onto the music scene via the lead single from his forthcoming fourth studio album ‘Uptown Special’.
Featuring the vocals of Bruno Mars, ‘Uptown Funk’ certainly ups the funk and feel-good factors with ’80s licks and a ‘Play That Funky Music’-esque bassline bedded beneath Bruno’s impassioned vocals.
While it might be a little bit retro, it’s also familiar and should elicit a wave of favourable memories from those who were around in the days of big perms, fluoro and Hypercolour t-shirts.
The clip premiered earlier this week via Yahoo, but now it’s ready for the rest of the world to see, reviving Bruno’s penchant for dancing in unison with his bandmates. In that respect, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before, but golly, it’s infectious.
