Legendary Italian producer Giorgio Moroder has almost broken the internet over the past 24 hours with news that he’ll release a brand new star-studded album next year.
Now confirmed for release in Australia, Giorgio’s first studio album in more than 30 years will feature a slew of collaborations with some of the hottest pop talent on the planet, including Britney Spears, Mikky Ekko, Charli XCX and our own Sia and Kylie Minogue.
The lead single from the new project is ’74 Is The New 24′, which is now available globally.
“Dance music doesn’t care where you live,” Giorgio said in a statement. “It doesn’t care who your friends are. It doesn’t care how much money you make. It doesn’t care if your 74 or if you are 24 because… 74 is the new 24!”
Giorgio’s influence on the direction of dance can’t be denied; from his early work with Donna Summer on classics like ‘Hot Stuff’, ‘Macarthur Park’ and ‘I Feel Love’ to ’80s classics for Irene Cara (‘Flashdance… What A Feeling’), Phil Oakey (‘Together In Electric Dreams’), Blondie (‘Call Me’) and Kenny Loggins (‘Danger Zone’).
A release date for the new album is forthcoming, but expect it in the second quarter of the year. In the meantime, wrap your peepers around the spectacular official video for ’74 Is The New 24′ below.
