It’s difficult to believe that after a quarter of a century in the music business and a number of Aussie chart hits (including her breakout smash ‘Buffalo Stance’, 1996’s ‘Woman’ and her Youssou N’Dour collaboration ‘7 Seconds’) that Swedish-born singer Neneh Cherry has never toured Australia. Thankfully, that’s all set to change early next year.
Having already been confirmed as part of the 2015 Golden Plains and Womeadelaide events and, overnight, on the line-up for the Perth International Arts Festival, Feel has this morning confirmed headline shows for both Sydney and Melbourne as part of her visit.
“This is a deeply meaningful moment for me,” Neneh said in a statement. “I have a strong and lengthy attachment to many folks from your part of the world, so does my whole family. Whenever I have been through doing promo in Australlasia, there has never quite been enough time to do some shows too, so this series of upcoming shows is long overdue!!! Should be a lot of fun.” Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
In addition to the live show news, there’s confirmation of the release of a deluxe edition of her latest album ‘Blank Project’. The two disc set will contain the original album on disc one, with a selection of the best remixes on the second disc. It’s out on Friday December 05.
