We have a real soft spot for British starlet Ella Henderson. Her breakout single ‘Ghost’ remains one of our favourite songs of 2014 and is likely to feature in our end-of-year top ten list. But her second single ‘Glow’ didn’t fare nearly as well, almost not making it into the top 50 here in Australia.
Enter single number three; the obligatory ballad. But what a ballad it is. Anyone who saw Ella’s original audition on ‘The X Factor’ in the UK (which has been viewed almost 27 million times) will understand what a powerful voice she has, along with an incredible knack of being able to connect with a lyric, especially when accompanied solely by a piano. And by the time the cello kicks in later in the track, we’re completely sold. Ella is extraordinary and ‘Yours’ is utterly sublime.
