As things inevitably start to slow down prior to the Christmas break, it’s good to know that there are still little nuggets like Sam Smith’s latest single ‘Like I Can’ to shine like a beacon.
To say Sam’s had a stellar year would be quite the understatement. More than six months after its release, his album ‘In The Lonely Hour’ is still in the top 50 here in Australia (top ten as of this weekend, don’t you know), it’s top five in the UK and the US and top ten with our friends over in New Zealand. The album has sold in excess of two million copies globally. Singles-wise he’s achieved four consecutive top ten UK hits, four consecutive top 20 Aussie hits and his latest two singles Stateside have both reached the top ten.
He’s off to the city that never sleeps for the black and white ‘Like I Can’ clip, where he walks the streets alongside a bunch of gents in dinner suits to take in all the city has to offer, including a walk on the Brooklyn Bridge and more than a couple of drinks in a bar.
We love this track. Pure soul-filled, uplifting, clever pop with a gospel-infused chorus. Let’s face it, what’s not to like?
