See what you think about ‘Under One Sun’, the new single from Perth soul songstress Shameem. Co-penned alongside James Bryan in the UK (he’s previously worked with the likes of Nelly Furtado and Olly Murs, don’t you know), the track feels instantly familiar; like one of those classic soul-filled ’90s pop songs from the likes of Margaret Urlich or maybe even Kate Ceberano.
“We are all members of one human race, we all live on the same planet and receive life from the same sun in the sky,” Shameem explains about her inspiration for the track. “I want people to think about why it is that we treat some people differently to others, when they are all equally our human brothers and sisters, no matter where they come from, what colour they are or what they believe.”
Shameem hits the road from mid-January for a series of live dates in support of its release. And here’s where you’ll find her;
January 17 : Subiaco (Subiaco Arts Centre)
February 19 : Melbourne (Paris Cat)
February 20 : Canberra (The Basement)
February 21 : Sydney (Gingers)
February 22 : Newcastle (Lass O’Gowrie)
