It’s end-of-year chart time, with ARIA today confirming the official top 100 singles and albums of 2014.
As you’ll see in our previous story, Ed Sheeran has topped the albums chart for the year, but he’s also done rather well on the singles chart too; placing at No.7 with ‘Thinking Out Loud’.
But it was a US R&B superstar who filled us with happiness earlier in the year who finishes on top of the top 100 singles countdown of the year.
Pharrell’s ‘Happy’ dominated, notching up nine times platinum, but plenty of other familiar faces follow in the top 10.
Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’ finishes in the No.2 spot, Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ places at No.3, while Aussies Sheppard and Justice Crew are at positions four and five, followed by Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ at No.6.
In the second half of the 100, 5 Seconds Of Summer get ‘Amnesia’ at No.51, Katy Perry is still ‘Roar’-ing at No.60, Nathaniel’s ‘Live Louder’ places at No.66 and Marlisa’s ‘Stand By You’ is in at No.71.
There’s some love for Jess Mauboy’s ‘Never Be The Same’ (No.75) and Rita Ora’s ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ (No.76) and a couple of places for Gabrielle Aplin (‘Please Don’t Say You Love Me’ at No.88 and ‘The Power Of Love’ at No.92).
